🕐 Schedule & Rota

No out-of-hours work required

About the Role

Join Pet Doctors Chichester as a Veterinary Surgeon and become part of a well-established team that’s built something genuinely special: a happy, friendly, and supportive environment where vets actually enjoy coming to work. You’ll be working across the practice’s three sites (Chichester, Felpham, and Rustington) with 36.5 hours over 3.5 days per week—flexible rota arrangements are available depending on your needs. Better still, there’s zero out-of-hours work, meaning your evenings and nights are genuinely yours.

This role sits within a forward-thinking, progressive team that pushes for clinical excellence while maintaining that rare balance of being genuinely supportive and honest. You’ll benefit from a strong work-up culture where everyone is encouraged to develop their own interests, and the practice actively funds certificate training tailored to your aspirations.

Chichester offers the perfect South Coast lifestyle: rolling South Downs hills nearby, West Wittering beach a short drive away, and easy access to Brighton (under an hour by train) or London (1 hour 40 minutes). The area is commutable from Bognor Regis, East Wittering, Portsmouth, Worthing, and across Hampshire and West Sussex.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver confident first-opinion consultations and routine surgical procedures across the three-site hub
  • Expand your surgical and medical capabilities with full support from the clinical team
  • Manage cases independently from both medical and surgical perspectives
  • Contribute to the practice’s collaborative work-up culture and case development

Requirements

  • Qualified Veterinary Surgeon (RCVS registered)
  • Confidence in consulting and routine surgical procedures
  • Desire to develop and expand your surgical and medical skillset
  • No experience level specified—all qualified vets considered

Benefits

  • Leave & Flexibility: 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (or equivalent), with a buy/sell scheme allowing you to purchase up to two additional weeks; one extra day’s leave annually for your first 5 years
  • Professional Development: Generously funded CPD with abundant internal and external course opportunities; practice fully funds certificate training aligned to your interests
  • Fees & Memberships: RCVS, VDS, and subscription fees fully covered
  • Health & Wellbeing: Cycle to work scheme and subsidised gym membership; enhanced maternity, paternity, and adoption pay; access to First Aid for Mental Health and Wellbeing Champions; Employee Assistance Programme
  • Financial: Automatic enrolment pension scheme; access to share-save scheme
  • Colleague Perks: Discount on pet products and treatments, free consultations, cost-price drugs, and discounted access to Animed online pharmacy
  • Note: Some benefits are pro-rated for part-time roles
