About the Role

This is a full-time locum position starting at the end of April or early May, perfect for an RVN seeking variety and flexibility within a well-established small animal practice. You’ll deliver hands-on nursing care across a broad range of cases, from routine preventative work to more complex procedures, always supported by an experienced and collaborative team.

Based in Ayrshire with easy public transport access, the practice combines modern clinical equipment with a genuine commitment to animal welfare and professional development. This is an ideal opportunity to gain diverse experience in a respected clinic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct nurse consultations and lead dedicated nurse clinics
  • Deliver vaccinations, flea and tick prevention, and worming programmes
  • Perform microchipping for dogs, cats and other species
  • Support dental care procedures and patient preparation
  • Lead weight management and nutrition clinics
  • Monitor blood pressure and vital signs
  • Assist with diagnostic procedures including laboratory work and imaging
  • Provide compassionate end-of-life care and support to owners
  • Support the wider clinical team with patient care and procedure assistance

Requirements

  • Current RVN registration
  • Experience in small animal nursing (locums with varied backgrounds welcome)
  • Strong communication skills and empathetic approach to patient and client care
  • Ability to work flexibly within a locum capacity
