About the Role

You’ll be joining Purton Vets, a modern small animal practice nestled in a village location on the edge of the Cotswolds, offering the perfect blend of professional challenge and genuine lifestyle appeal. This is a daytime-only role with Saturday mornings on a 1:6 rota—no nights, no on-call, just predictable hours you can actually plan around. Working 40 hours per week (Monday–Friday, 08:00–19:30) with Saturday shifts between 08:30–13:00, you’ll have real time to enjoy the Water Park, countryside walks, and thriving village community just minutes from your workplace.

Your day-to-day responsibilities include caring for inpatients, theatre work, and consulting. You’ll deliver gold-standard patient care using modern facilities and be part of a tight-knit team of four permanent vets, four RVNs, a student nurse, and experienced support staff who genuinely value their work here—many have been at Purton Vets for years.

Part-time applications welcome (minimum 30 hours per week).

Key Responsibilities

  • Inpatient care and monitoring across the practice
  • Theatre support and surgical nursing, including nurse-led dental x-rays
  • Client consulting and patient handling
  • Supporting the practice’s Fear Free approach, prioritising both physical and mental patient wellbeing
  • Contributing to the practice’s quality improvement and infection prevention initiatives

Requirements

  • Current RCVS registration as a Registered Veterinary Nurse
  • Experience in small animal practice (specific years not stated, but you should be ready to deliver confident, independent patient care)
  • Commitment to high standards of patient care and professional practice

About the Practice

Purton Vets is a modern small animal practice serving the village of Purton and surrounding areas, ideally located on the edge of the Cotswolds with easy access to the M4. The practice boasts comprehensive facilities including digital x-ray, ultrasound, in-house laboratory, K-laser, dental x-ray, and fixed and rigid scopes. The team performs keyhole surgery for all bitch spays and operates as a Fear Free practice, recognising that mental health is as important as physical wellbeing in patient care. The practice is deeply embedded in the local community, participating in school talks, careers events, dog shows, and team activities.
