About the Role

You’ll join Purton Vets as a Registered Veterinary Nurse, working within a supportive small animal team in a village setting on the edge of the Cotswolds. This is a straightforward Monday-to-Friday role (08:00–19:30) with just 1:6 Saturday mornings (08:30–13:00) and absolutely no out-of-hours or on-call duties—the kind of predictable schedule that actually lets you have a life outside work.

The Cotswold Water Park is just a 10-minute drive away, offering water sports and walks, while Purton itself is surrounded by open fields with good local amenities including a pub, library, and shops. Easy access to the M4 means you’re connected without being in the chaos.

Key Responsibilities

  • Caring for inpatients and providing gold-standard patient care across the practice
  • Theatre work, including nurse-led dental X-ray procedures
  • Assisting with consulting duties
  • Supporting the team’s Fear Free approach to patient mental health and wellbeing
  • Contributing to a practice that uses modern techniques including keyhole surgery for bitch spays

Requirements

  • Current RVN registration
  • Experience in small animal nursing (implied from practice focus)
  • Commitment to high standards of patient care

About the Practice

Purton Veterinary Group was established in 1985 in the village of Purton, West Swindon, and specialises in small animal care. The practice is modern and well-equipped, featuring dental X-ray, ultrasound, in-house lab, K-laser, digital X-ray, fixed and rigid scopes, and facilities for keyhole surgery. The team includes 4 permanent Veterinary Surgeons, 4 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 1 student nurse, and dedicated receptionists and admin staff. Visiting orthopaedic and ophthalmology specialists are available when required. The practice is Fear Free certified and takes pride in addressing both the mental and physical health of patients. The team is active in the local community, hosting school talks, careers events, and dog shows. The practice is part of Independent Vetcare, a group of practices committed to high-quality patient care.
