🕐 Schedule & Rota

1-in-4 Saturday rota at sister practice Gatehouse Vets. No out-of-hours night duties required.

About the Role

Richmond House Vets is relocating to a brand-new, purpose-built facility near Mirfield, and they’re looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join their small animal team. This is a hands-on nursing position where you’ll support the Branch Manager and Veterinary Surgeons across all areas of practice—from inpatient care and theatre work to consultations and nurse clinics. The practice offers flexible working arrangements, so whether you prefer full-time hours over four days or two part-time shifts per week, there’s an option to suit you. As part of the role, you’ll participate in a 1-in-4 Saturday rota at their sister practice, Gatehouse Vets, with no out-of-hours night duties required.

This is an excellent opportunity if you’re newly qualified or looking to grow your confidence in a supportive environment. You’ll be encouraged to develop gradually across all nursing areas, and there’s a clear pathway toward taking on nurse clinics, scheduling procedures, and eventually pursuing Clinical Coach status with full funding support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day nursing support to the veterinary surgeons and Branch Manager
  • Deliver hands-on inpatient care, theatre support, and assistance during consultations
  • Develop and deliver nurse clinics as your confidence grows
  • Gradually take on training and mentoring responsibilities as the practice develops
  • Work toward Clinical Coach status with structured support

Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Nurse qualification (newly qualified nurses are welcome)
  • Friendly, organised approach with strong teamwork skills
  • Enthusiasm for learning and asking questions to build confidence
  • Interest in developing teaching and mentoring skills for the future

Benefits

  • Time Off: 6.6 weeks annual leave plus additional holiday for your birthday
  • Professional Development: £550 CPD allowance (24 hours paid), certificate support, access to the IVC Evidensia Academy, and funded Clinical Coach training
  • Professional Memberships: BVA membership, VDS cover, and RCVS fees covered
  • Healthcare & Wellbeing: Private medical insurance, enhanced family-friendly policies (maternity/paternity/adoption/shared parental/surrogacy pay), Cycle to Work scheme, employee wellbeing initiatives, and non-accidental injury support
  • Pension: 5% employee contribution with 3% employer match
  • Additional Perks: Pawsome Benefits (100s of retailer discounts and cashback), discounted staff pet care, Vetlexicon access, research funding opportunities, and Infection Prevention & Control training

About the Practice

Richmond House Vets is part of the Gatehouse Veterinary Group, a friendly and supportive multi-site organisation known for its strong training culture and award-winning professional standards. The newly relocated facility near Mirfield is purpose-built with modern theatres, a dedicated dental suite, digital x-ray equipment, and separate species wards—providing an excellent environment for both animal care and professional development.

Part of IVC Evidensia, the practice operates within a larger network committed to quality improvement, infection prevention, and continuous learning. The team prioritises mentoring and structured support, particularly for newly qualified nurses, and is actively developing as a training practice.
