No out-of-hours shifts. Weekend pattern: one Saturday morning in 6 (8.30am–1pm) and one whole Saturday in 6 (8.30am–5pm).

About the Role

This is a full-time permanent position offering 40 hours per week over 4 days, with manageable weekend commitments: one Saturday morning in 6 (8.30am–1pm) and one whole Saturday in 6 (8.30am–5pm). Importantly, there are no out-of-hours shifts. You’ll be working at Riversmeet Veterinary Centre, a well-established small animal practice with sites in Tamworth and Atherstone, just 15 minutes from Birmingham with countryside nearby and excellent transport links.

Your day-to-day work will involve a diverse mix of consultations, surgery, and advanced cases. The practice prioritises case continuity, regular veterinary meetings, and open clinical discussion—you’ll always have support when you need it. The caseload is predominantly dogs and cats with the occasional small furry patient, ensuring no two days are ever the same.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct consultations and provide primary care for small animal patients
  • Perform routine and advanced surgery, including orthopaedics, laparoscopic procedures, and soft tissue work
  • Manage diverse medical cases, including ophthalmology, cardiology, dermatology, arthritis, and cancer management
  • Contribute to the team’s developing mid-tier referral service
  • Maintain high clinical standards and excellent client communication
  • Participate in regular clinical meetings and peer discussion
  • Support case continuity and collaborative decision-making within the 9-veterinary team

  • RCVS registered or eligible for registration

About the Practice

Riversmeet Veterinary Centre is a long-established, forward-thinking small animal primary care practice with over 100 years of trusted care and two well-equipped sites serving the Tamworth and Atherstone areas. The practice features modern facilities including digital X-ray, ultrasound at both locations, endoscopy, electrocautery, cryotherapy, ophthalmic loupes, dental and orthopaedic equipment, slit lamp, and tonometers. A particular strength is the in-house ophthalmology referral service.

The team comprises 9 veterinary surgeons, including a Certificate Holder in Ophthalmology, with three further colleagues currently pursuing certificates in Surgery, Emergency and Critical Care, and Acupuncture. The practice is known for exceptional staff retention, with many colleagues having over 20 years’ service.
