Veterinary Receptionist

About the Role

This is a 9-month maternity cover contract offering full-time hours across Monday to Friday (finishing at 7:15 pm) plus one Saturday per month (9 am–2 pm). You’ll be the first point of contact for clients and their pets, creating those crucial first impressions in a bright, recently refurbished practice located in the heart of Plymouth. The team here genuinely looks after one another, creating a supportive and friendly environment where communication and compassion are valued just as highly as efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Meeting, greeting and welcoming clients and their pets with warmth and professionalism
• Managing the appointment diary and booking consultations
• Handling telephone and email enquiries promptly and professionally
• Processing payments for services and products, and managing cash handling and end-of-day banking
• Liaising between clients and the clinical team to ensure excellent customer care
• Maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment for clients and their pets

Requirements

• Proven reception experience in a busy environment
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Warm, compassionate and professional demeanour
• Ability to multitask and stay organised under pressure
• Strong attention to detail and reliability

About the Practice

Rosehill Veterinary Clinic is an established, well-respected practice serving Plymouth’s pet-owning community. The practice has recently undergone a complete refurbishment, boasting bright, modern clinical and reception areas equipped with theatre, a large prep room with two tables, X-ray and ultrasound facilities, and a dedicated dental room with up-to-date digital X-ray and CR7 processor. The team includes five experienced Registered Veterinary Nurses, two Animal Nursing Assistants, and a Student Veterinary Nurse, supported by an efficient reception team. Rosehill is RCVS Practice Standards accredited for Small Animal General Practice and continues to invest in modern equipment and working practices.
