1:12 weekend rota at Bradley Stoke Hospital, covering Saturday and Sunday shifts

About the Role

This is a part-time position working three days per week—ideally Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday—with flexibility on specific days and hours to suit the right candidate. Shifts are typically 8 hours, with working hours between 8am and 7:30pm, so no unsocial early starts or late finishes. You’ll participate in a 1:12 weekend rota at the practice’s Bradley Stoke Hospital, covering Saturday and Sunday shifts.

You’ll be joining a busy, first-opinion practice in Wotton-under-Edge committed to exceptional clinical care in a friendly environment. The surgery is conveniently located just 10 minutes from Junction 14 of the M5, offering easy access to Bristol and the surrounding area. The caseload is varied and rewarding, with access to advanced imaging and specialist services including MRI and feline radioactive iodine facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional nursing care to hospitalised patients, ensuring excellent welfare and clinical outcomes
  • Assist with surgical and dental procedures, monitor anaesthesia (including MRI anaesthetics), and support veterinary surgeons during operations
  • Run nurse-led clinics focused on preventative healthcare and client education, strengthening relationships with clients
  • Support advanced services including MRI procedures and the feline radioactive iodine unit
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients, building trust and confidence in clinical services
  • Collaborate positively with the nursing team, contributing to a supportive culture and clinical excellence

Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) qualification
  • Experience in small animal nursing (experienced RVNs, recently qualified nurses, or those returning to practice are all welcome)
  • Passion for clinical excellence and patient welfare
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build client relationships
