About the Role

This is your chance to join a thriving first-opinion practice where clinical excellence meets genuine flexibility. You’ll work 40 hours per week over 4 days, with a shared weekend and bank holiday rota—giving you real breathing room alongside meaningful clinical work. Based across the Rutland and Kings group (including sites in Leicester, Melton, Syston, Uppingham, Oakham, Market Harborough and Corby), you’ll have the exciting opportunity to play a key role in the opening of a brand-new, purpose-built Veterinary Hospital at Melton in 2026.

The practice offers genuine flexibility to tailor your role around your strengths and interests—whether you prefer consult-only work, hands-on case management, or a mix of both. You’ll be part of a warm, close-knit team of 22 vets including certificate holders, all committed to mentorship and professional growth. Key Responsibilities

• Deliver first-opinion veterinary care across the multi-site practice, managing a diverse and varied caseload
• Conduct consultations and carry out surgical and medical procedures, with the flexibility to focus on areas that suit your interests and expertise
• Mentor and develop new graduates, helping them build confidence and clinical skills within a supportive environment
• Contribute to the on-site emergency care provision (24/7, 365 days a year) as part of a shared rota
• Maintain high clinical standards and support the practice’s RVCS accreditation
• Engage with the local community and support the practice’s involvement in local pet charities

Requirements

• Qualified Veterinary Surgeon with current RCVS registration
• Clinical decision-making ability and confidence in both consultations and hands-on cases
• A collaborative, laid-back approach—you’re a genuine team player who thrives in a fast-paced but supportive environment
• Ability to remain calm and collected under pressure
• Interest in mentoring and developing junior vets and new graduates
• Experience level not specified, but experienced vets particularly welcome
