About the Role

This is a part-time opportunity (30 hours per week) designed around what matters most to you. Whether you’re looking for school hours, shorter shifts, or a few days a week, Rutland Veterinary Centre will work with you to make it happen. You’ll join a welcoming first-opinion practice in Market Harborough where work-life balance is genuinely prioritised, not just talked about.

The practice is fully equipped with the latest diagnostic tools and supports a diverse caseload across consults, medical workups, routine and non-routine surgeries. With a 24-hour out-of-hours service on-site and dedicated diagnostic imaging facilities, you’ll have access to excellent resources and a highly skilled nursing team to deliver quality care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality clinical care across consultations, medical cases, and routine/non-routine surgical procedures
  • Interpret diagnostics and make informed clinical decisions; know when to assess cases and when to refer appropriately
  • Manage treatment planning and ongoing case management in collaboration with the team and specialists
  • Support and mentor graduate vets, helping them build confidence and develop their clinical skills
  • Work as a team player in a fast-paced environment, staying calm under pressure while maintaining positive client relationships
  • Contribute to the practice’s community involvement, which includes supporting local charities such as Cats Protection, Prickleback Urchin Hedgehog Rescue, Neville’s Nest Guinea Pig Rescue, and Leicester Animal Rescue

Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Surgeon (RCVS)
  • Strong clinical decision-making abilities and diagnostic interpretation skills
  • Competence in consult management, medical workups, and surgical procedures (routine and non-routine)
  • Ability to assess cases and refer appropriately; collaborative approach to specialist consultation
  • Team player mentality with an easy-going, collaborative attitude
  • Passion for mentoring and supporting graduate development
  • Calm under pressure with the ability to maintain high standards in a fast-paced environment
