About the Role

This is a full-time position working a 4-day week at a forward-thinking first opinion practice in Uppingham, Rutland. You’ll have genuine flexibility to tailor the role around your clinical strengths—whether you prefer focused consultations or diving into complex diagnostic cases. Weekend and bank holiday day rota participation is part of the role, but there’s no on-call.

You’ll be joining a warm, close-knit team of 22 vets across multiple branches (Corby, Market Harborough, Melton Mowbray, Oakham, Syston, and a 24/7 RCVS-accredited veterinary hospital in Uppingham). This is a community-driven practice with a diverse caseload and the opportunity to mentor new graduates whilst developing your own clinical interests.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-standard clinical care across a diverse caseload, working with the latest diagnostic equipment and a highly skilled nursing team
• Manage consultations and complex cases with clinical confidence and decision-making ability
• Mentor and support newly qualified graduates, helping them build confidence and clinical skills
• Work collaboratively within a multi-branch network, contributing to the practice’s reputation for bespoke, affordable patient care
• Participate in shared weekend and bank holiday day rota as part of regular duties
• Engage with the local community and support pet charities where the practice is actively involved

Requirements

• Qualified veterinary surgeon with clinical decision-making ability in both consultations and hands-on cases
• Team player who thrives in a collaborative, supportive environment whilst remaining calm under pressure
• Genuine interest in mentoring and developing new graduates
• Laid-back, approachable personality that fits within a friendly, close-knit team
• Willingness to participate in shared weekend and bank holiday day rota
