Registered Veterinary Nurse

About the Role

You’ll be joining Scarsdale Vets’ Alfreton practice as a Registered Veterinary Nurse, working three days per week (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday) plus Saturday mornings on a 1-in-4 rota. This 27-hour week offers the perfect blend of clinical variety and work-life balance, with all out-of-hours care handled by the Pride Park hospital—so your evenings and most weekends are genuinely yours.

The role is a mix of theatre and consulting room nursing, where you’ll work alongside a collaborative team of vets, CCAs, and VCAs. Beyond clinical duties, you’ll be involved in stock control, ordering, and maintenance, gaining exposure to the day-to-day running of the practice with full support from the hub management team. This is a well-equipped, purpose-built facility where you’ll work to high clinical standards in a modern environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care in both theatre and consulting-room settings
• Support surgical and medical procedures with confidence and competence
• Manage stock control, ordering, and equipment maintenance
• Contribute to day-to-day practice operations under management guidance
• Work collaboratively as part of a small, supportive veterinary team

Requirements

• Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) qualification
• Confidence and experience in both theatre and consult-based nursing
• Organised, motivated approach with genuine team engagement
• Positive and flexible attitude to practice life

About the Practice

Scarsdale Vets operates one of the largest veterinary networks in the Midlands, with eleven small animal practices across Derby and Burton, a state-of-the-art small animal hospital at Pride Park, and dedicated farm and equine teams serving the East Midlands.
