🕐 Schedule & Rota

1:4 Saturday clinic shift (8:30am–6:00pm). Part of bank holiday on-call rota covering 1–2 bank holidays per year.

About the Role

This is a truly varied position that splits your time between hospital nursing and first-opinion consulting—ideal if you thrive on clinical diversity and want to develop skills across both domains. You’ll work 38 hours per week over 4 days with shifts between 8:00am and 7:00pm, plus a 1:4 Saturday clinic rota and bank holiday on-call cover (1–2 per year).

At Scarsdale Vets in Derby, you’ll join a large, supportive nursing and veterinary team delivering gold-standard care across a complex caseload in a purpose-built, modern facility with exceptional equipment and resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hospital and procedure nursing: Support high-quality patient care across anaesthesia, inpatient care, diagnostics, imaging and procedures. Perform Schedule 3 procedures under veterinary direction and work with advanced diagnostic equipment including digital X-ray, ultrasound, CT, MRI, ECGs, blood pressure monitoring and in-house laboratory diagnostics.
  • Clinical operations: Contribute to stock control, equipment maintenance and efficient clinical workflows within the hospital.
  • Nurse-led consulting: Deliver independent first-opinion consultations including wellness and preventative healthcare, chronic illness management, weight management, senior pet clinics, dental health and post-operative care.
  • Client relationships: Build strong and lasting relationships with clients, taking real ownership of patient and client care while developing confidence in independent consulting.

Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) qualification
  • Passion for clinical excellence and client interaction
  • Ability to work confidently in both hospital and consulting environments
