Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

This is a part-time opportunity at Shires Vets, a well-established practice with over 70 years of history across multiple sites in Staffordshire. You’ll work 20 hours per week, with ideal availability being Thursdays and Fridays, though the practice is flexible about scheduling. Based primarily at the Eaton Park and Stone sites, you’ll join a clinical team that genuinely values collaboration and professional development.

The Stone location is a purpose-built facility recently upgraded with laparoscopy equipment. You’ll work alongside experienced vets, including certificate holders in ophthalmology, an Advanced Practitioner in Surgery who manages orthopaedic and soft tissue procedures, and three vets offering echocardiography services. The team is complemented by qualified RVNs, PCAs, student nurses, and a warm client care team who actively support one another.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver general small animal veterinary care across the Eaton Park and Stone practice locations
• Work collaboratively with the established team of experienced vets and certificate holders
• Support shifts across practice branches as needed, with reasonable flexibility
• Contribute to a positive, learning-focused workplace culture
• Participate in clinical decision-making alongside the team’s specialists

Requirements

• Ideally, a Veterinary Surgeon with a few years’ experience in general practice
• Flexible approach to scheduling across multiple sites
• Genuine enthusiasm for teamwork and continuous learning
• Kind, approachable manner that fits the practice culture
