Student Veterinary Nurse

About the Role

You’ll join South Lincs Vet Group as a Student Veterinary Nurse, covering maternity leave for 12 months. This full-time position at the Freiston branch offers structured training across all core nursing duties, working within a harmonious team of 17 vets and 50+ nursing and support staff. The serene Lincolnshire setting provides an ideal environment to develop practical skills whilst building confidence in clinical work.

Working 43.73 hours per week, the role includes 1:5 weekend days and 1:18 weekend nights, giving you manageable out-of-hours commitments whilst you establish yourself in the profession.

Key Responsibilities

• Holding and restraining animals during examination and procedures
• Kennel care including feeding, grooming, and administering medications appropriate to your training level
• Assisting with blood sampling and laboratory sample processing
• Preparing animals for surgery and monitoring anaesthetics under supervision
• Cleaning, sterilising, and maintaining surgical instruments
• Cleaning and maintaining clinical areas to the highest standards
• Supporting reception duties as required

Requirements

• Currently undertaking or committed to a veterinary nursing qualification
• Enthusiasm for animal care and willingness to learn
• Ability to work as part of a collaborative clinical team
• Physical capability to handle animals safely and lift as required

South Lincs Vet Group is a well-established multi-site practice across beautiful Lincolnshire, comprising a main hospital in Sutterton and four branch practices in Freiston (where this role is based), Pinchbeck, Heckington, and Holbeach.
