About the Role

Southfields Veterinary Specialists is expanding its diagnostic imaging department and seeking a board-certified or board-eligible clinician to join an ambitious, diplomate-led team. You’ll work in a newly completed £16 million complex that ranks among the UK’s largest veterinary referral centres, with cutting-edge facilities and a 24/7 emergency service supporting complex cases across all disciplines.

This is a full-time position where you’ll have genuine leadership scope. The imaging team is growing to include three EBVS European Specialists, two experienced diagnostic imaging clinicians, a radiographer, four dedicated imaging nurses, and a patient care assistant—giving you both clinical peers and a strong support structure. You’ll drive service innovation, develop team members, and establish diagnostic imaging as a cornerstone of the referral service.

Located in Basildon, Essex (approximately 30 minutes from central London), Southfields offers the appeal of proximity to city living alongside the natural beauty of the Essex countryside.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical diagnostic imaging services as a consultant, supporting the referral caseload across the facility
  • Contribute to the growth and development of the imaging team through mentoring and knowledge sharing
  • Supervise residents and interns within the diagnostic imaging programme
  • Innovate and optimise service delivery to enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency
  • Collaborate actively with other clinical departments to integrate imaging expertise across the hospital
  • Maintain professional standards that advance patient care within a specialist referral environment

Requirements

  • EBVS European Diploma in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging, or equivalent certification (American Board, RCVS, or recognised international qualification)
  • Board certification or board eligibility in Diagnostic Imaging
  • Demonstrable commitment to clinical excellence and professional development
