About the Role

This is a structured, full-time internship programme for Summer 2026, designed to accelerate your development as a veterinary surgeon. You’ll rotate across multiple specialist disciplines at one of Linnaeus’s 11 referral hospitals, gaining hands-on experience in diagnostics, surgery, and patient care from day one. You’ll work alongside world-renowned specialists in a vibrant community of over 100 rotating interns and 100+ residents across the UK’s largest referral hospital network.

The programme is built around your career progression. With proven outcomes—70% of interns who wanted to specialise progressed to Discipline Specific Internships or Residencies within two years—you’ll have clear pathways into advanced roles, primary care leadership, or academia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gain hands-on clinical experience across multiple specialist disciplines including internal medicine, surgery, anaesthesia, diagnostic imaging, oncology, emergency and critical care, neurology, cardiology, ophthalmology, and dentistry
  • Participate in diagnostics, surgical procedures, and direct patient care under the supervision of specialist teams
  • Attend small-group seminars, weekly clinical teaching sessions, and monthly film reading rounds
  • Complete a year-long research training course with opportunities to conduct clinical research and present at international conferences
  • Undertake RECOVER online certification in basic and advanced life support
  • Engage in clinical reasoning rounds and ongoing professional skills workshops

Requirements

  • Registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS)
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in small animal practice
  • Must have completed (or be close to completion of) the RCVS Veterinary Graduate Development Programme (VetGDP)
  • Eligible candidates from outside the UK may be considered for visa sponsorship
