1:7 Saturday morning rota, plus other weekend day shifts shared amongst the team, all paid at extra rate. No nights or on-call duties. Shifts available between 7:30am–7:30pm across all sites.

About the Role

Spring Lodge Veterinary Group is seeking a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join their main hospital in Witham, Essex, on a flexible basis (full-time or part-time welcome). This is a 12-month fixed-term contract, though permanent arrangements may be discussed with the right candidate. You’ll be part of a clinical team across 6 accredited branches, supporting high-quality first-opinion care in a modern, well-equipped environment. Weekend day shifts (Saturday mornings shared on a 1:7 rota, and other weekend day shifts shared amongst the team) are paid at an extra rate—no nights or on-call duties.

Located a short walk from Witham’s main line station with easy access to London, and just 30 minutes from Stansted Airport, the practice sits in an appealing mix of countryside and town. The main hospital benefits from separate cat and dog wards, a full in-house laboratory, isolation facilities, digital x-ray, ultrasound, laparoscopic theatre equipment, and various endoscopes. Three branch surgeries are fully equipped for imaging and surgery, whilst two are consulting-only, feeding seamlessly into the main hospital. The team holds both ISFM Cat Friendly Clinic and RWAF Rabbit Friendly Clinic accreditations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality nursing care to first-opinion patients across all Spring Lodge sites
  • Assist veterinary surgeons in theatre and consultations
  • Take the lead on inpatient care and management
  • Conduct patient admits and discharges
  • Deliver nurse-led consultations and client communications
  • Collaborate with the wider clinical team to maintain and improve patient care standards
  • Contribute to ongoing professional development within the practice

Requirements

  • Current RCVS registration as a Veterinary Nurse
  • Practical experience in clinical practice with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues
  • Organised approach to workload management and prioritisation
  • Proactive mindset towards learning, reflection, and continuous improvement
  • Flexibility to work shifts between 7:30am and 7:30pm across practice locations
  • Willingness to work 40 hours per week inclusive of the 1:7 Saturday morning rota
