🕐 Schedule & Rota

1:5 night duty rota (with on-site accommodation); 1:6 weekend rota. The practice provides its own in-patient care, while emergency OOH is provided by VetsNow.

About the Role

Sprinz and Nash is a long-established veterinary hospital set in the charming market town of Thame, offering a supportive environment where you’ll deliver high-quality nursing care to a varied and challenging caseload. This full-time position comes with flexibility—you can adjust hours around childcare or personal commitments if needed. Your role will involve working alongside a team of certificate holders and experienced vets, all committed to maintaining high clinical standards whilst protecting your work-life balance.

The hospital features excellent clinical facilities including dental x-ray, in-house laboratory, endoscopy, ultrasound, and digital x-ray, plus dedicated dog, cat, and isolation wards. You’ll manage a mix of first opinion cases and in-patient care, with the opportunity to develop emergency and critical care experience. We provide our own in-patients care, whilst our emergency OOH is provided by VetsNow. Full-time nurses work a manageable 1:5 night duty rota (with on-site accommodation) and 1:6 weekend rota.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinary surgeons in theatre and consultations, delivering hands-on clinical nursing support
  • Manage inpatient care, including patient admits, discharges, and ongoing welfare monitoring
  • Conduct nurse consultations and deliver nursing care independently within your scope of practice
  • Contribute to clinical standards and patient care protocols across the practice
  • Support the professional development of junior team members and collaboratively mentor colleagues
  • Work flexibly across day shifts, weekend days, and shared night duty (1:5 rota with accommodation)

Requirements

  • RCVS Registration as a Veterinary Nurse (essential)
  • Practical experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Excellent organisational abilities with capacity to manage workload effectively and prioritise under pressure
  • A proactive, reflective approach to learning and continuous improvement
  • Team-orientated mindset with genuine enthusiasm for collaborative working
