About the Role

This full-time opportunity brings you into an established, supportive farm veterinary practice serving Cardigan and Lampeter with genuine depth of experience. You’ll work alongside a strong team of 6 farm vets, 2 vet techs, and a dedicated support crew—never isolated, always backed up. The caseload spans dairy herds, beef cattle, sheep flocks, equine patients, smallholder work, and TB testing, offering genuine variety across the farming spectrum.

The role runs Monday to Friday with a manageable 1:4 out-of-hours rota; OOH work is paid separately at competitive rates, and you’ll always have another farm vet available by phone for support. This is traditional, values-driven farm practice enriched by modern technology and clinical standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver primary care across a mixed farm caseload: dairy and beef cattle, sheep, equine, and smallholder patients
  • Conduct TB testing and herd health consultancy work
  • Participate in the 1:4 out-of-hours rota with paid emergency callouts
  • Contribute to a collaborative team of 6 farm vets, supporting each other on complex cases and herd management
  • Uphold high clinical standards using modern equipment and facilities

Requirements

  • Qualified veterinary surgeon registered with the RCVS
  • Experienced in farm animal practice (cattle, sheep, equine)
  • Commitment to participating in out-of-hours rota work
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills within a multi-vet practice
