Love the night shift? Stone Lion Hospital in Wimbledon is looking for an experienced RVN to lead their night team in a 24-hour ECC hospital with genuine work-life balance—3 nights on, 7 nights off, and just a 10-minute walk from Wimbledon Station.

🕐 Schedule & Rota

Permanent night shift role, 3 nights on/7 nights off rotation, shift times 7pm–8am, averaging 30.33 hours per week. This is dedicated out-of-hours ECC work, not shared on-call.

About the Role

Stone Lion Veterinary Hospital in Wimbledon is recruiting a dedicated Registered Veterinary Nurse to join their night team on a permanent basis. This is a nocturnal role perfect for an RVN or final-year student with ECC experience who thrives in a night-shift environment. You’ll work alongside an experienced on-site veterinary surgeon throughout your shift, providing expert care to hospitalised patients and receiving daytime support from the clinical management team whenever needed.

The role operates on a unique rotation of 3 nights on/7 nights off (averaging 30.33 hours per week), with shifts running 7pm–8am. If you’re seeking genuine work-life balance without the chaos of sole charge, this is it. The hospital sits in picturesque Wimbledon Village, just a 10-minute walk from Wimbledon Junction station and with minimal overnight parking costs—London’s hot spots are at your fingertips, and your evenings are largely your own.

The hospital offers a diverse caseload across routine, emergency, and critical care, plus specialist referral work including orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery, cardiology, and physiotherapy. You’ll work in an RCVS Accredited, ISFM Silver Award Cat Friendly clinic equipped with everything a modern 24-hour hospital needs.

  • Monitor and ensure high standards of comfort and welfare for all hospitalised pets
  • Manage equipment sterilisation, packing, cleaning, and correct storage protocols

  • Update pet owners on the progress of their hospitalised animals as directed by the clinical team

Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) qualification or student nurse in final year of qualification
  • Background and confidence in ECC (Emergency & Critical Care) nursing

  • Salary: £28,813.50–£34,121.25 depending on experience (equivalent to £38,000–£45,000 FTE based on 40 hours per week)
  • 6.6 weeks annual leave including bank holidays (pro rata)
  • CPD budget every year plus up to 2 days’ paid CPD leave
  • Support for further ECC qualifications and specialist certificates if you wish to progress
