Veterinary Receptionist

About the Role

You’ll be the first point of contact for clients and their pets at Sussex Coast Vets, working across their Bexhill and St Leonards-on-Sea locations, plus their sister practice 1066 Veterinary Centre. This is a full-time position offering flexibility in how you structure your 40-hour week—choose between four 10-hour shifts or five 8-hour shifts, with Saturday cover on a 1:4 rota (hours taken from your weekly allocation, not added).

Based in beautiful Bexhill-on-Sea, you’ll enjoy the benefits of a historic coastal town with excellent transport links: 45 minutes to Brighton, 1 hour by train to London, and direct access to Gatwick Airport. The town offers a thriving arts scene, waterfront promenade, independent restaurants, and year-round festivals including the seafood and wine festival and the famous bonfire night parade.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide a warm and professional welcome to all clients and their pets
• Manage reception operations including phone calls, appointment scheduling, and client inquiries
• Process insurance claims and manage pet health club memberships
• Maintain accurate and organised records across the three-site practice
• Support the veterinary team with administrative tasks and assist in the treatment areas
• Maintain composure and compassion during busy or challenging situations
• Help create a calm, welcoming environment for nervous pets and their owners

Requirements

• Friendly, approachable manner with genuine passion for client and animal care
• Strong organisational and administrative skills
• Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal
• Reliability and commitment to the team
• Flexibility to work Saturday mornings on a rota basis

About the Practice

Sussex Coast Vets is a caring, friendly, and collaborative three-site practice serving the local community with small animal care. The team comprises 3 experienced veterinary surgeons (including an orthopaedic specialist), 6 dedicated nurses, and 5 FTE receptionists. The practice is part of IVC Evidensia, a leading veterinary care provider across the UK and Europe.
