About the Role

This is your chance to step into a leadership position at a pivotal moment. Tamworth Companion Care is undergoing an exciting refurbishment and rebranding, and they’re looking for an experienced Clinical Lead to guide the team through this transformation. You’ll work four days a week plus one Saturday in three—no Sundays or out-of-hours commitments—giving you genuine work-life balance without compromising clinical impact.

Based in the charming market town of Tamworth, this family-owned practice combines modern, state-of-the-art facilities with a close-knit team ethos. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the clinical team comprising four veterinary surgeons, six registered nurses, and support staff across all aspects of patient care and clinical standards
  • Mentor junior vets and support their professional development and career progression within the practice
  • Handle more complex cases and provide clinical support and guidance to junior team members
  • Collaborate with the practice owners and manager to drive innovation and enhance performance standards
  • Shape clinical protocols and standards as the practice evolves through its refurbishment and rebranding
  • Contribute strategic ideas to improve care delivery and practice performance

Requirements

  • Qualified veterinary surgeon with proven experience leading a clinical team or supporting team development
  • Experience handling complex cases and mentoring junior veterinarians
  • Strong collaborative approach and commitment to high standards of veterinary care
  • Enthusiasm for clinical development and continuing professional growth

Benefits

  • Competitive salary up to £80,000 per annum (FTE, DOE)
  • £5,000 welcome bonus for direct candidates (terms and conditions apply)
  • No out-of-hours or Sunday commitments—four days per week plus one Saturday in three
  • Professional development: funding for veterinary management courses and clinical qualifications
  • Professional registration fees fully covered
  • Partnership opportunity available for the right candidate—genuine pathway to practice ownership
  • Twice-yearly salary reviews
  • Access to modern, air-conditioned facilities with high-end clinical equipment

About the Practice

Tamworth Companion Care is a thriving, family-owned small animal practice serving the Tamworth community with deep roots and genuine commitment to quality care. The practice is spacious, air-conditioned, and equipped with state-of-the-art clinical facilities. Currently undergoing refurbishment and rebranding, it’s positioned for growth with strong team stability—several staff members have been with the practice for over 20 years.

The clinical team is led by Partner Eubie Saayman (qualified 20 years, trained at Onderstepoort Pretoria, South Africa) and includes a total of four veterinary surgeons, six registered nurses, three receptionists, and two practice managers. The practice culture emphasises collaboration, mentorship, and genuine support for professional development. As part of Vets for Pets, the practice maintains access to wider group resources whilst retaining its independent, family-led ethos.
