About the Role

Taylor Veterinary Practice is seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse to join its thriving small animal team in East Kilbride. This full-time position offers a rare combination: meaningful clinical work across a large, well-resourced practice without the pressure of out-of-hours cover. You’ll be part of a nursing team of 12 RVNs working alongside 17 veterinary surgeons, supported by dedicated ANAs, receptionists, and administrative staff across a main branch and three consulting-only satellite locations. The team is particularly interested in candidates with a passion for developing nurse-led clinics.

You’ll work a standard 40-hour week spread across 4–5 days, with just 12 Saturday shifts per year. Emergency and out-of-hours cover is handled externally by VetsNow Glasgow, meaning you maintain genuine work-life balance without sacrificing professional development or the variety of a busy practice.

Located on the southside of Glasgow, Taylor Veterinary Practice is one of the world’s oldest veterinary practices, having served the community for nearly two centuries. The practice has recently invested in state-of-the-art facilities and a supportive culture where your contributions are genuinely valued.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on small animal nursing care across consultations, surgery, and emergency cases
  • Develop and deliver nurse-led clinics as your confidence and interests grow
  • Support the team across the main Cathkin branch and consulting-only sites in East Kilbride and Clarkston (flexibility to travel between locations is essential)
  • Work collaboratively with 17 veterinary surgeons and 11 fellow RVNs in a structured, mentoring environment
  • Contribute to the practice’s commitment to high-quality patient care and professional standards

Requirements

  • Current RCVS registration as a Registered Veterinary Nurse
  • Experience in small animal practice (any experience level in this established role)
  • Willingness to travel between multiple practice locations
  • A collaborative approach to patient care and teamwork

Benefits

  • Leave & Flexibility: 6.8 weeks annual leave, increasing with service; birthday as a paid day off
  • Wellbeing & Family Support: Enhanced maternity, paternity, adoption, shared parental and surrogacy pay; private medical insurance; discounted gym membership; cycle to work scheme; non-accidental injury support
  • Professional Development: £550 annual CPD allowance with 24 hours paid study time; access to IVC Evidensia Academy; Vetlexicon online resource; research funding opportunities; Infection Prevention and Control and Quality Improvement Programmes
  • Professional Memberships: VDS cover and RCVS fees covered
  • Pension: 5% employee / 3% employer contribution
  • Additional Perks: Pawsome Benefits (rewards gateway with 100s of retailer discounts and cashback); discounted staff pet care
