About the Role

The Cat Clinic in Southsea is seeking a passionate feline-focused veterinary surgeon for a permanent Saturday-only consulting position. This is a daytime-only role with no on-call or out-of-hours responsibilities – all emergencies are referred to Vets Now from midday onwards, giving you genuine weekday freedom. You’ll work 8:00am to 12:00pm each Saturday, with flexibility to work every week or on a 1:2 or 1:3 rota, and the option to pick up weekday holiday cover if you’d like additional variety.

You’ll be joining a well-equipped, progressive GP practice with a strong emphasis on routine dentistry and wellness consultations – perfect for building lasting client relationships. The clinic is accredited as an RCVS Practice Standards Clinic and recognised as an ISFM feline-friendly clinic, reflecting its genuine commitment to high-standard cat care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality feline consultations and routine care within a dentistry-focused caseload
  • Work collaboratively with an experienced RVN and receptionist every Saturday morning
  • Maintain clinical standards in a well-resourced environment with modern diagnostic equipment
  • Build and sustain client relationships through excellent everyday GP care
  • Refer complex cases appropriately, supported by the practice’s in-house ISFM expertise

Requirements

  • Qualified veterinary surgeon registered with the RCVS
  • Genuine interest in feline medicine and client communication
  • Ability to work confidently and safely in a Saturday consulting environment
  • Professional approach to clinical and client-facing work

About the Practice

The Cat Clinic, Southsea is a well-established, progressive small animal practice located on the high street in Southsea, South East England. Part of the IVC Evidensia group, the clinic is exceptionally well equipped with IDEXX in-house blood machines, digital dental and standard X-ray, ultrasound, doppler, capnograph and K-laser. It holds dual accreditation as an RCVS Practice Standards Clinic and an ISFM feline-friendly clinic, demonstrating its commitment to excellence in cat care.

The team comprises two veterinary surgeons, five registered veterinary nurses, and a dedicated client care team. The practice maintains in-house ISFM certificate expertise whilst remaining collaborative in its approach to specialist referrals, creating a supportive clinical environment where cat welfare is genuinely prioritised.
