About the Role

You’ll be joining a welcoming small animal practice just outside Birmingham where nursing isn’t an afterthought—it’s central to what you do. This is a full-time position working 40 hours across a four-day week with 10-hour shifts, meaning genuine work-life balance: no out-of-hours duties, no weekend shifts, and proper time to recharge.

Your day-to-day will be varied and engaging. You’ll run dedicated nurse consultation clinics, take the lead in theatre and anaesthesia support, manage inpatient care with high standards, and perform Schedule 3 procedures where appropriate. You’ll work alongside an experienced Branch Lead RVN who holds Emergency and Critical Care qualifications, and the team meets regularly to share knowledge and plan your ongoing development. The practice is well-equipped with dental X-ray, endoscopy, a dedicated nurse consultation room, and separate dog kennels and cat wards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run nurse-led consultation clinics independently
  • Provide theatre and anaesthesia support to the clinical team
  • Deliver high-standard inpatient care and monitoring
  • Perform Schedule 3 procedures within your scope of practice
  • Support the wider clinical team to deliver excellent patient outcomes
  • Contribute to team meetings and ongoing clinical development
  • Utilise your nursing skills fully across daily clinic operations

About the Practice

The Veterinary Clinic New Hall is part of an established group of four small animal clinics within short driving distance of each other, with over 30 years of history and many longstanding team members. Located just outside Birmingham with excellent transport links and close proximity to Sutton Park and Walmley Village, the practice is well-equipped and designated as a registered Training Practice. The team is passionate about supporting the next generation of veterinary professionals while empowering nurses to develop their own clinical interests and skills.
