About the Role

Thrums Vets is looking for an experienced Mixed Species Vet to join their dynamic team in the heart of Angus and eastern Perthshire. This is a rare opportunity to work across genuine mixed practice—approximately 70% small animal and 30% large animal—with routine consultations, diagnostics, surgery, and emergency care across all species. The role includes a 1:15 on-call rota with time off in lieu, allowing you to balance professional challenge with genuine downtime.

You’ll be part of a large, collaborative team of experienced vets, nurses, and support staff who genuinely care about each other’s development and wellbeing. Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality veterinary care to small animal, farm, and equine patients
  • Perform routine consultations, diagnostic assessments, treatments, and surgical procedures
  • Provide 24-hour on-call emergency care as part of the 1:15 rota
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through education and professional advice
  • Work collaboratively with the wider veterinary team, including experienced nurses and support staff
  • Engage in continued professional development to stay current with advances in mixed-species veterinary medicine

Requirements

  • RCVS-registered veterinary surgeon with genuine passion for mixed-species practice
  • Minimum 2 years relevant working experience
  • Strong communication skills with clients and colleagues
  • Ability to work independently and as an effective team member
  • Commitment to providing excellent clinical care and building lasting client relationships
  • Positive, proactive approach with a sense of humour and problem-solving mindset
