About the Role

Veterinary Vision is seeking a qualified and experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse to join its dedicated ophthalmology referral team at the Penrith site. This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week over five days, with a shared 1 in 8 weekend on-call rota and weeknight on-call duties included.

You’ll be working in a modern, up-and-coming referral centre providing specialist ophthalmology services to cases referred from across Cumbria, the North East, Lancashire, and Scotland. The practice is equipped with state-of-the-art operating facilities for all types of ocular surgery. Previous ophthalmology experience is not essential—comprehensive training will be provided to help you develop expertise in this fascinating specialism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high standards of patient care within the ophthalmology referral service
  • Support all types of ocular surgery in the modern operating theatre
  • Work as part of a friendly, professional, and dedicated nursing team
  • Contribute to the referral centre’s growing caseload across multiple regions
  • Participate in on-call duties as part of the shared rota system
  • Maintain excellent standards in patient welfare and clinical support

Requirements

  • Current RCVS registration as a Registered Veterinary Nurse
  • Dedication to providing excellent patient care
  • Enthusiasm and commitment to professional development
  • Ability to work flexibly, including weekend on-call duties (1 in 8)
  • Previous ophthalmology experience is not required
