About the Role

Veterinary Vision Penrith is a dedicated ophthalmology referral centre serving cases across Cumbria, the North East, Lancashire and Scotland. You’ll be joining a friendly, professional nursing team in a modern facility equipped with state-of-the-art operating suites for all types of ocular surgery. This is a full-time role working standard office hours (Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts) with a shared weeknight on-call rota and 1 in 8 weekend on-call commitment.

You’ll provide high-standard patient care in a warm, supportive environment where animal wellbeing is the priority. While previous ophthalmology experience isn’t essential, you’ll need to be dedicated, enthusiastic, and committed to continuous professional development. The practice will provide comprehensive training in specialist eye care nursing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-standard nursing care to ophthalmic referral patients across all surgical and medical cases
  • Support state-of-the-art ocular surgical procedures in a modern operating theatre environment
  • Participate in shared weeknight on-call duties and weekend on-call rota (currently 1 in 8)
  • Contribute to the friendly, professional culture of the referral nursing team
  • Undertake additional overtime as required

Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) qualification
  • Dedicated and enthusiastic approach to patient care
  • Prior ophthalmology experience is not required—training will be provided
