Apply before: Mar 11, 2026

Up to £45,000/yr DOE
Shoreditch, London
Full Time
No OOH
Ready to lead a pioneering emergency triage team without the on-call chaos? Veteris is reshaping UK pet emergency care, and they're looking for an experienced vet to take the helm of their telephone triage operation—fully remote, strategic leadership role.

About the Role

Veteris is an innovative emergency veterinary service transforming how the UK delivers urgent pet care. They operate mobile vet units and Veteris Shoreditch, a 24/7 intensive care facility in North London. This is a leadership opportunity with real impact: you’ll oversee the clinical quality of all emergency calls handled by their Registered Veterinary Nurses team, ensuring pet owners receive expert guidance when they need it most.

This is explicitly a non-clinical management role. While your veterinary expertise is essential for credibility and decision-making, you won’t be treating patients directly. Instead, you’ll shape protocols, mentor nurses, analyse performance data, and act as the escalation point for complex cases. The role is fully remote after a 3–6 month hybrid induction period based at their Shoreditch facility. Please note that while your veterinary expertise is crucial, this position does not involve direct patient care or hands-on clinical work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Registered Veterinary Nurse triage team, ensuring they deliver empathetic, clinically accurate guidance on emergency calls
  • Oversee call quality standards, monitoring adherence to protocols and identifying best practice
  • Train and mentor nurses on clinical updates, emergency scenarios, and communication skills
  • Maintain and update the internal knowledge base (Notion) to keep clinical resources current and valuable
  • Manage the rota to guarantee 24/7 coverage and team availability
  • Provide clinical escalation support and second opinions for complex or difficult cases
  • Track call volumes and performance metrics; report insights and expansion recommendations to the Executive Team
  • Act as liaison between the Triage Team and Executive leadership, implementing strategic initiatives
  • Drive continuous improvement in emergency protocols and team operations

Requirements

  • Qualified Veterinary Surgeon registered with RCVS
  • Minimum 3 years’ clinical veterinary experience, with emergency care exposure preferred
  • Proven track record leading and developing veterinary teams
  • Excellent communication skills—ability to guide and support staff and pet owners in stressful situations
  • Strong organisational abilities with experience in scheduling and protocol development
  • Comfortable with data analysis and performance reporting
  • Problem-solving mindset and ability to make decisive calls in urgent scenarios
  • Strategic vision to drive team growth and care standards

Benefits

  • Competitive salary up to £45,000 per annum, depending on experience
  • Performance bonus scheme
  • Company pension
  • RCVS and professional memberships covered
  • Private medical insurance
  • Employee discount
  • Flexitime scheduling
  • Fully remote working (after initial 3–6 month hybrid training)
  • Professional development and continuous learning opportunities
  • UK visa sponsorship available
  • Career progression as Veteris expands operations

About the Practice

Veteris is an independent, dynamic emergency veterinary provider reshaping pet emergency care across the UK. Built on a human-centric philosophy, the company operates Veteris Mobile—a fleet of mobile vet units—and Veteris Shoreditch, a specialist 24/7 intensive care facility in North London. They’re known for their commitment to comprehensive on-demand emergency care and a supportive workplace culture that values teamwork and mission-driven work.

The role sits at the heart of their expansion strategy. As they grow, the Triage Team is critical to their ability to deliver high-quality emergency guidance at scale, and leadership here directly shapes the future of their service.
