Ready to step out of clinical practice into a strategic role that shapes the future of emergency pet care? Veteris is seeking an Operations Manager to build systems, lead teams, and drive efficiency across three innovative business units—no stethoscope required, but your veterinary background will set you apart.

🕐 Schedule & Rota

Role is day shift, Monday to Friday only—no out-of-hours or overnight responsibilities.

About the Role

Veteris operates a dynamic network of emergency and urgent care services across London, including a triage operation, mobile veterinary unit, and 24/7 hospital facility in Shoreditch. This is a full-time, non-clinical operations role based in London, working Monday to Friday day shifts. You’ll join the existing Operations Manager to oversee the smooth running of the Veteris Mobile and Veteris Shoreditch teams, bridging clinical excellence with operational excellence.

This is a pivotal position for someone looking to transition from clinical veterinary work into leadership and management. Your mission is straightforward: create the systems, processes, and culture that allow three distinct business units to operate independently and efficiently, delivering exceptional care to emergency patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Oversee clinical and non-clinical staff across Veteris Mobile and Veteris Shoreditch; manage flexible rosters, coordinate rota submissions, and conduct one-to-one performance and wellbeing reviews
  • People Management: Handle recruitment, interviews, and candidate sourcing for clinical and non-clinical roles; support payroll submission and monitor night staff commission
  • Inter-departmental Communication: Serve as the interface between founders and operational teams; liaise with inventory and maintenance teams; address customer complaints in partnership with clinical leadership
  • Risk & Compliance: Identify, record, and manage non-clinical risks; lead DBS and recruitment compliance processes
  • Systems & Documentation: Create and enhance operational documentation to enable 24/7 independent operations; identify efficiency improvements and synergies between business units
  • Relationship Management: Build strong relationships with referring practices and collaborate closely with founders; provide weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports as part of the Senior Leadership Team

Requirements

  • Veterinary Surgeon qualification (Master’s level) with minimum 2 years’ clinical experience
  • Currently registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) or willing to maintain membership
  • Demonstrated strong organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent communication abilities; confidence in seeking and acting on feedback from clinical and non-clinical teams
  • Ability to make balanced decisions under pressure and prioritise effectively
  • Based in London with reliable ability to commute or willing to relocate
  • Sound IT knowledge and experience with multiple programmes
  • Full, clean UK driving licence
  • Right to Work in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS clearance and satisfactory reference checks required (covering last five years)
  • Desirable: Emergency and critical care background; experience in the pet care industry beyond clinical practice

Benefits

  • Salary: £43,575–£51,707 per annum
  • Private medical insurance
  • Additional leave (beyond statutory entitlement)
  • Bereavement leave
  • On-site parking
  • Structured induction with immersive days across all business units
  • Investment in professional development and team culture

The company is on a growth trajectory, with plans to expand and integrate new business units. Leadership values structured operations, process innovation, and a workplace culture that balances clinical excellence with staff wellbeing.
