About the Role

Prenton Vets4Pets is seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join a thriving small animal practice on the Wirral Peninsula. This is a full-time position working alongside an established team in a purpose-built facility that combines traditional first-opinion care with modern equipment and genuine work-life balance. With an average 37-hour week and a 1 in 5 Saturday morning rota only—no out-of-hours or on-call duties—you’ll have real time to settle into the community and enjoy everything the North West has to offer, from Liverpool’s cultural buzz to Chester’s history and the Welsh countryside on your doorstep.

The practice serves a large, loyal patient base with a varied and interesting caseload. You’ll be expected to work both sole charge and collaboratively with the team, managing consultations and surgical procedures. The practice is independently run with strong local roots and a reputation for excellence in community care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first-opinion small animal veterinary care including consultations, diagnostics, and surgical procedures
  • Work both independently and collaboratively within a team of 4 vets, 4 RVNs, 1 SVN, and supportive non-clinical staff
  • Contribute to the practice’s high standards of patient care and community reputation
  • Participate in the 1 in 5 Saturday morning rota (no night shifts or emergency on-call)
  • Support continued professional development and certificate-level study if interested in progressing your career

Requirements

  • Qualified Veterinary Surgeon (MRCVS) with proven experience in small animal practice
  • Capability to work sole charge and manage both consultations and surgical procedures independently
  • Growth mindset and commitment to delivering outstanding patient care
  • Professional approach to team working and community engagement
