6-week rolling rota typical pattern: Week 1 Wednesday & Thursday nights + Saturday & Sunday days; Week 2 Wednesday night; Week 3 Wednesday, Thursday & Sunday nights; Week 4 Thursday & Friday nights; Week 5 Wednesday & Thursday nights + Saturday & Sunday days; Week 6 off. Shift times: nights 18:00–09:00, Saturday days 12:00–18:30, Sunday days 08:30–18:30. Number of shifts negotiable to suit lifestyle. Bank holidays shared across team.

About the Role

Join Vets Now Bournemouth as an ECC Veterinary Surgeon in a part-time position that genuinely respects your lifestyle. You’ll be working within a collaborative emergency team supported by experienced vets, nurses, and support staff, plus dedicated central teams who handle the admin so you can focus on cases. This isn’t about working all hours—the flexible 6-week rolling rota is designed around you, with night shifts (18:00–09:00), Saturday days (12:00–18:30), and Sunday days (08:30–18:30) distributed fairly across the weeks, plus bank holiday cover. How many of the available shifts to be worked can be discussed further; we will work with you to find a rota that fits around your lifestyle and clinic requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver emergency and critical care to small animals presenting out-of-hours
  • Contribute to a shared on-call rota across the Bournemouth emergency clinic
  • Work collaboratively with nursing and support staff to provide high-standard patient care
  • Participate in continuous professional development and clinical mentorship opportunities
  • Engage with the AdvantEdge programme if you’re new to emergency medicine (1 week hands-on training + 20 hours flexible e-learning)

Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Surgeon (RCVS qualified)
  • Interest in or experience with emergency and critical care
  • Ability to work flexibly across a rotating shift pattern including nights and weekends
  • Strong clinical communication and teamwork skills
  • All experience levels welcome—recent graduates supported through AdvantEdge programme
