Registered Veterinary Nurse – Weekend

About the Role

This is a weekend-only registered veterinary nurse position based at Vets Now’s emergency clinic in Bournemouth. You’ll work a rotating four-week schedule with flexible patterns—ranging from Saturday afternoons (12:00–18:30) to full weekend days including Sundays (09:00–19:00), plus bank holiday cover. It’s ideal if you’re building emergency and critical care expertise while maintaining work-life balance, or balancing second income with family commitments.

You’ll be part of the nursing core of clinical treatment at one of the UK’s largest emergency pet care networks. The team here handles a steady stream of ECC cases, giving you genuine exposure to high-acuity nursing across triage, perioperative support, critical care monitoring, and in-patient management. Your nursing skills will be tested and valued in a structured, supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

• First aid assessment and clinical advice over the phone and in clinic
• Critical care management: monitoring major body systems, detecting trends in in-patient care, physiotherapy, pain assessment, and wound/dressing care
• Diagnostic procedures: performing routine diagnostics independently in a sole charge capacity
• Contributing to high clinical standards and client/pet care excellence alongside the emergency team

Requirements

• RCVS registered for a minimum of six months
• Experience with ECC caseload is advantageous (but not essential)
• Commitment to maintaining high clinic standards
• Genuine passion for animal welfare and client care
