About the Role

This is a weekend-only position at Vets Now Cheltenham, perfect for vets building emergency and critical care experience or balancing a second job. You’ll work alongside a collaborative team of veterinary surgeons, nurses, animal care assistants, and receptionists in a well-resourced clinic. The role offers a genuine opportunity to develop your ECC skills in a supportive environment where progression is valued.

The practice operates on a 1:4 weekend rota with shifts on Saturdays 12:00-19:30 and Sundays 8:30-19:30, plus a fair share of bank holidays. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract with clear, predictable scheduling.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver emergency and critical care to small animals presenting at Vets Now Cheltenham
• Work collaboratively with the veterinary and nursing team during weekend shifts
• Utilise advanced diagnostic and surgical equipment including digital X-ray, ultrasound with cardiac monitoring, video endoscopy (flexible and rigid), laparoscopic equipment, and CT scanner
• Maintain high clinical standards and contribute to a supportive team culture

Requirements

• Qualified veterinary surgeon (RCVS registered)
• Experience or keen interest in emergency and critical care
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a weekend team
• Flexible approach and willingness to engage with modern ECC practice
