Emergency Veterinary Surgeon – Part-Time Nights & Weekends

About the Role

This part-time position offers the opportunity to provide critical emergency care for small animals during nights, weekends, and holidays. You’ll work approximately 25 hours per week with Vets Now, a leading emergency veterinary care provider, in a role that’s designed around flexible scheduling while maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide emergency and critical care to small animals presenting during out-of-hours periods
• Assess, diagnose, and treat acute and life-threatening conditions
• Work within a collaborative team structure, supporting colleagues during complex cases
• Mentor and guide students, sharing clinical knowledge and best practice
• Maintain detailed clinical records and ensure compliance with professional standards
• Contribute to a culture of continuous learning and professional development

Requirements

• Current UK veterinary registration (RCVS)
• Proven experience in emergency veterinary care
• Strong clinical knowledge and decision-making skills in high-pressure situations
• Willingness to mentor and support student development
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holiday shifts
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
