Daytime shifts only. Rotating pattern covers 07:00–18:00, 09:30–20:00, 10:00–18:00, and 10:30–21:30 shifts, plus a fair share of bank holidays. No overnight on-call or night shifts mentioned.

About the Role

This full-time position offers the chance to join a highly skilled emergency and critical care team at Vets Now Glasgow. You’ll work daytime shifts on a rotating pattern (07:00–18:00, 09:30–20:00, 10:00–18:00, and 10:30–21:30), providing emergency stabilisation and high-level inpatient care across a diverse caseload. This is a role built for experienced nurses who thrive under pressure and want to develop advanced technical skills in a multi-disciplinary environment.

Working alongside Specialist and Advanced Practitioner vets, you’ll manage everything from initial triage and patient stabilisation to advanced procedures such as central line placement, arterial sampling, and invasive blood pressure monitoring. You’ll also provide dedicated ICU care for complex referral cases from internal medicine and surgery services—no two days are the same.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform rapid triage and emergency stabilisation of newly presented patients
  • Carry out advanced ECC nursing tasks including central line placement, arterial sampling, and catheter management
  • Monitor and maintain invasive haemodynamic monitoring systems
  • Provide high-standard inpatient ICU care for a wide range of cases, including referral patients from specialist services
  • Work collaboratively with Specialist and Advanced Practitioner vets in a multidisciplinary team
  • Maintain clinic standards and ensure excellent client communication throughout patient care
  • Contribute to a culture of ongoing learning and clinical excellence

Requirements

  • RCVS registered for a minimum of six months
  • Experience with ECC caseloads (advantageous but not essential)
  • Motivated approach to maintaining high clinical standards
  • Genuine passion for patient care and client communication
  • Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced emergency environment
