About the Role

Vets Now Glasgow is seeking a part-time veterinary surgeon to join its 24/7 emergency hospital’s out-of-hours team. This is a specialist referral environment where you’ll work alongside an established Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) team, handling a stimulating and varied caseload that makes an immediate difference to the pets you treat on every shift.

The flexibility here is genuine: you choose between two rota options. Option 1 averages 36 hours weekly; Option 2 averages 20 hours weekly. Both include a mix of days, backshifts (5pm–1am or 5pm–3am) and nights (7pm–7am or 7:30pm–7:30am), spread across weekdays, weekends, and bank holidays. You’ll be mentored by the Lead Vet with a strong support network in place.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver emergency and critical care to pets presenting at Glasgow’s 24/7 hospital
  • Work collaboratively within the ECC specialist team on complex and acute cases
  • Provide mentored clinical care under the Lead Vet’s guidance
  • Support Vets Now’s ethos of delivering care when pet owners need it most

Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Surgeon (RCVS)
  • Willingness to work across day, backshift, and night-time emergency rota
  • Enthusiasm for emergency and critical care medicine
  • Professional communication and teamwork in a fast-paced environment
