1:3 Saturday rota (one Saturday per month), 12:00–00:00 shift. Plus fair share of bank holidays.

About the Role

This is a Saturday-only position working a 1:3 rota (one Saturday per month) from midday to midnight, plus a fair share of bank holidays. It’s ideal if you’re looking to expand your emergency and critical care knowledge whilst maintaining weekday commitments elsewhere—whether that’s another job, family time, or further study.

You’ll be joining the nursing team at Vets Now Newport, part of the UK’s leading out-of-hours provider serving over 1,700 veterinary practices through 60+ dedicated clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. Your role sits at the heart of clinical treatment, supporting everything from triage and surgery to anaesthesia and in-patient monitoring.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver first aid advice over the phone and perform appropriate care in clinic
  • Manage critical care patients: monitor major body systems, spot changes in in-patient trends, assess pain, perform wound care and dressing changes, and deliver physiotherapy
  • Perform basic diagnostic procedures confidently and independently
  • Contribute to maintaining high clinic standards and deliver compassionate care for clients and their pets

Requirements

  • RCVS registered for a minimum of six months
  • Experience with emergency and critical care caseloads (advantageous but not essential)
  • Motivated to uphold clinical standards
  • Genuine passion for animal welfare and client care
