Ready to make a real difference in emergency care? Join Vets Now Worcester as a vet surgeon and work with a committed team providing round-the-clock care to sick and injured pets—with genuine support and no more than three consecutive night shifts.

🕐 Schedule & Rota

Emergency and critical care focused role. Average 40 hours per week across weekday nights, weekend days and nights, and bank holidays. Maximum three consecutive night shifts. Rota-based cover.

About the Role

Vets Now Worcester has been delivering emergency pet care since 2010, and the team is looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join them on a 12-month fixed-term contract. You’ll be part of a dedicated group of vet surgeons, registered veterinary nurses, animal care assistants, and receptionists who work through nights, weekends, and bank holidays to provide urgent care when daytime practices are closed.

This role averages 40 hours per week across weekday nights, weekend days and nights, and a share of bank holidays—with the important safeguard that you’ll never work more than three consecutive night shifts in a row. The team is also open to considering part-time arrangements, recognising that one size doesn’t fit all.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide emergency and critical care to small animals presenting during out-of-hours periods
  • Work collaboratively with veterinary nurses and support staff to deliver high-quality care
  • Contribute to the RCVS-accredited Small Animal Emergency Service Clinic (ESC)
  • Maintain professional standards and support the practice’s commitment to animal welfare

Requirements

  • RCVS registration as a veterinary surgeon
  • Experience in emergency or critical care (desirable but not essential)
  • Willingness to work unsociable hours including nights, weekends, and bank holidays
  • Strong team working and communication skills

Benefits

  • Competitive salary up to £80,000 DOE
  • Private medical insurance
  • Seven weeks pro rata annual leave
  • Up to 50% discounted staff pet care
  • Professional membership fees covered
