About the Role

This full-time permanent position offers real flexibility tailored to you—whether that’s short days, long days, part-time arrangements, or even taking a longer lunch to walk your own dog on the nearby South Wales coast. The practice is ideally located just 2 miles from the M4 for easy commuting, yet sits within 20 minutes of beautiful coastal areas and close to Cardiff, giving you the best of both worlds.

You’ll be joining a recently revamped practice that’s invested heavily in creating a spacious, modern working environment. The clinical team includes 4 vets, 6 nurses (4 qualified, 2 students), 7 VCAs, a dedicated reception team, and an experienced practice manager—so you’ll never feel unsupported. With no overnight in-patient checks or OOH duties required, you can focus on clinical work during normal hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver general small animal veterinary medicine and surgery across 4 consultation rooms and 2 theatres
  • Lead diagnostic investigation work using modern in-house equipment (CT available regularly, digital X-ray, dental X-ray, ultrasound, endoscope, ECG)
  • Work collaboratively with the nursing team (4 qualified RVNs and student nurses) and 7 VCAs to deliver patient care
  • Support the practice’s commitment to undertaking thorough investigation before referrals, using on-site CT and full in-house laboratory facilities
  • Contribute to ongoing professional development and share knowledge with the team
  • Participate in optional charity events and community involvement

Requirements

  • Qualified veterinary surgeon with RCVS registration
  • Good general knowledge of surgery and strong medical foundation
  • Open to candidates at the beginning of their veterinary career with the right attitude
  • Commitment to high standards of patient care and professional practice

The facility includes 4 consultation rooms, kennels and cattery, 2 surgical theatres, a prep theatre, full in-house laboratory, isolation area, and dedicated office space. Advanced diagnostic equipment includes CT (available regularly), digital X-ray, dental X-ray, ultrasound (Doppler), endoscope, and ECG—reflecting the practice’s commitment to thorough investigation and reducing unnecessary referrals.
