Be the friendly face that sets the tone at Vine Tree Vets. This part-time reception role offers flexible hours in the heart of the Wye Valley, working with a supportive team that cares for everything from cats and dogs to exotic species.

About the Role

Vine Tree Vets is looking for a welcoming, organised Receptionist to be the first point of contact for their clients and patients. You’ll be the person who creates that all-important first impression—greeting owners with warmth, managing their appointments, and ensuring every interaction leaves them reassured and valued. This is a part-time role, working just 21 hours per week across four days: Monday, Wednesday and Friday 2pm–7pm, and Thursday 8:30am–2:30pm, giving you genuine work-life balance.

The practice is nestled in the scenic Wye Valley and has built a reputation for caring for a diverse range of animals—dogs, cats, small pets, and even more exotic species. You’ll be joining a collaborative team where clinical and non-clinical staff work together seamlessly to deliver excellent care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet clients and their pets with professionalism and warmth, setting a positive tone for every visit
  • Manage the appointment book efficiently, handling bookings and enquiries both in person and over the phone
  • Support accurate record-keeping and client communication to ensure a smooth patient journey
  • Work alongside clinical colleagues to coordinate care and keep clients informed
  • Maintain composure and provide reassurance in a busy practice environment
  • Handle a variety of administrative tasks to keep the practice running smoothly

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills and a genuinely friendly, professional manner
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role, with a proven focus on service and attention to detail
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks confidently in a busy setting
  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to support your colleagues
  • Proactive attitude with openness to feedback and continuous learning
  • Organisational skills and reliability

Benefits

  • 6.6 weeks’ annual leave, plus an extra day for your birthday
  • Increasing annual leave as you progress through the practice
  • Enhanced family-friendly policies, including maternity, paternity, adoption, shared parental, and surrogacy pay
  • Healthcare Cash Plan
  • Cycle to Work scheme
  • Learning and development opportunities through the IVC Evidensia Academy
  • Pension scheme
  • Discounted staff pet care
  • Access to voluntary benefits tailored to your needs
  • Discounts and cashback with hundreds of retail partners
