Join a supportive 11-vet team in beautiful Kent where work-life balance isn't just promised—it's protected. No out-of-hours, flexible hours, and genuine camaraderie among colleagues who feel more like friends.

🕐 Schedule & Rota

No out-of-hours commitment. Saturday work on a 1:3 rota (9am–4pm or 9am–12:30pm with time off in lieu).

About the Role

Warren House Vets is seeking a compassionate Veterinary Surgeon to join their thriving small animal practice in the Medway Towns. This is a permanent full-time or part-time role with genuine flexibility: Saturday work follows a 1:3 rota (9am–4pm or 9am–12:30pm with time off in lieu), and there is no out-of-hours commitment—a rare find in modern practice. You’ll be working alongside a well-established team of 11 vets, 14 RVNs, and dedicated support staff across four branches, all within the picturesque county of Kent.

The practice culture here is distinctly collaborative. Team members actively support one another both clinically and personally; mentorship happens naturally, and you’ll have access to a wealth of expertise in orthopaedics, internal medicine, ultrasonography, soft tissue surgery, dermatology, and acupuncture. You’ll be encouraged to develop cases in-house rather than over-refer, while always retaining the option to refer when clinically appropriate—no pressure either way.

With protected admin time, flexible working arrangements to suit your life outside work, and a commitment to work-life balance, this role offers the rare combination of clinical variety, professional support, and genuine breathing room.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-standard consulting, case management, and surgical care across the Medway Towns branch network
  • Manage surgical procedures and dentistry, working cases up to completion internally where appropriate
  • Conduct thorough case discussions with owners and colleagues; coordinate diagnostic workup and non-routine surgical bookings
  • Contribute to clinical decision-making within a collaborative team environment with 10 peer vets and specialist interests across multiple disciplines
  • Actively participate in the supportive team culture, mentoring newer team members and learning from experienced colleagues as needed

Requirements

  • RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon
  • Strong communication skills with both clients and colleagues
  • Solid medical knowledge and confidence in common surgical procedures and dentistry
  • Team player mentality with a collaborative approach to clinical practice
  • Ability to work cases to a high standard and engage in thorough case management

Benefits

  • Salary: Up to £60,000 per annum (negotiable depending on experience) plus relocation package available
  • Relocation package available
  • Professional fees: RCVS and VDS fees paid
  • CPD support: £1,500 annual allowance plus 5 days paid study leave (pro rata); extensive free online Linnaeus CPD program
  • Flexible working: Part-time options available; protected admin time; hours adjustable to fit your lifestyle
  • Pension: Employer contribution scheme
  • Leave & support: Enhanced sickness pay; enhanced equal family leave (birth/adoption)
  • Wellbeing package: Employee Assistance Program; eyecare voucher scheme; annual flu jab (paid); cycle-to-work scheme; e-car salary sacrifice scheme
  • Career development: Clear progression opportunities within Linnaeus group
  • Additional perks: Staff discount schemes; recruitment referral reward scheme; life assurance

About the Practice

Warren House Veterinary Surgery, established in 1982, has grown into a four-branch small animal group serving the Medway Towns with a reputation for clinical excellence and genuine team cohesion. Each branch features 2–3 consulting rooms, separate dog and cat wards, prep rooms, and sterile surgical theatres. All sites offer in-house laboratory services, digital radiography, and ultrasound; endoscopy facilities are available across the group. The practice employs peripatetic specialists when needed, meaning patients often avoid unnecessary referral to distant centres.

The leadership structure is notably supportive: a senior clinical and non-clinical leadership team oversees group operations, with a Lead Vet at group level and dedicated Nurse Leads and Client Care Leads at each branch. Staff longevity is strong—some team members have been with Warren House for over 30 years. The practice actively encourages further professional study and has earned Cat Friendly Clinic Silver accreditation at the Lordswood site, which also partners with local cat rescue. Warren House is part of Linnaeus and Mars Veterinary Health, the world’s largest family-owned veterinary company, offering access to a 6,000-strong network of professionals, global development opportunities, and comprehensive wellbeing resources.
