🕐 Schedule & Rota

1 in 4 Saturday half-days (08:15–13:15) with day off in lieu following each weekend shift

About the Role

You’ll join Wellpet Vets as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in a friendly, collaborative team of 5 vets, 1 existing RVN, and 3 student nurses. This role is based primarily at the practice’s main Shenley branch in Hertfordshire, with occasional shifts at the sister consult-only site in Edgware, Middlesex—just 15 minutes away. Working 40 hours per week between 08:30 and 20:00, you’ll enjoy flexibility built into your schedule with days averaging 8 hours tailored to your preferences. Weekend commitments are minimal: just 1 in 4 Saturday half-days (08:15–13:15), followed by a day off in lieu to maintain genuine work-life balance.

You’ll be expected to bring dedication and enthusiasm to all aspects of nursing—from patient care to theatre support—while working alongside a team that genuinely enjoys what they do. This is nursing at a practice that recognises people matter.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care across all small animal disciplines
  • Support surgical and diagnostic procedures in a modern practice setting
  • Work flexibly between the Shenley main branch and Edgware consult-only site as needed
  • Contribute to the supportive team culture that underpins the practice’s success
  • Engage in continuing professional development and expand your nursing skills

Requirements

  • Current RCVS registration as a Registered Veterinary Nurse
  • Passionate commitment to small animal nursing
  • A positive, upbeat team-player attitude
  • Driving licence preferred (to facilitate easy travel between branches, but not essential)

Benefits

  • Annual leave: 6.6 weeks, with increases based on length of service, plus your birthday as a paid day off
  • Professional support: RCVS fees paid in full, generous CPD allowance of £500 with 3 days paid pro rata, and access to the IVC Evidensia Academy
  • Wellbeing: Enhanced family-friendly policies (maternity, paternity, adoption, shared parental, and surrogacy pay), private medical insurance, cycle to work scheme, and discounted gym membership
  • Pension and insurance: 5% employee/3% employer pension contribution, VDS cover
  • Additional perks: Pawsome Benefits (Reward Gateway discounts and cashback with 100s of retailers), discounted staff pet care, and learning resources including Vetlexicon access
