About the Role

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) based primarily at West End Vets in Tollcross, Edinburgh, with occasional shifts at the sister practice in Morningside. The role operates on a rota basis: Monday to Friday core hours, plus one Saturday morning per month (8:30am–12:30pm). You’ll be at the heart of patient care, monitoring health, supporting recovery, and providing reassurance to pet owners in a first opinion setting.

The practice is set in Edinburgh’s historic West End, serving a vibrant community with two modern small animal facilities. This is an environment where clinical excellence and team wellbeing go hand in hand, and your contribution to both will be valued and supported.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor anaesthesia during surgical procedures
• Provide in-patient care for medical and surgical cases
• Dispense medications and manage stock ordering
• Conduct nurse consultations with clients
• Perform laboratory work including urinalysis and blood analysis
• Support the veterinary team in delivering exceptional patient outcomes
• Maintain high standards of practice cleanliness and organisation
• Contribute to a positive, welcoming team environment

Requirements

• Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) qualification
• Passion for delivering excellent patient care
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team
• Professional approach to continuing professional development

West End Vets is an established small animal practice serving Edinburgh’s Tollcross and Morningside areas. The team comprises 5 veterinary surgeons, 3 veterinary nurses, and 4 receptionists, all committed to providing compassionate, high-quality care.
