White Cross Vets, Handsworth
Apply before: May 1, 2026
No out-of-hours shifts required. Saturday clinics on a rota with time off in lieu.
This is a full-time or flexible small animal position at a thriving 3.5-vet practice in Handsworth, Sheffield. You’ll work 40 hours over four days with Saturdays on a manageable rota (with time off in lieu), and—genuinely—no out-of-hours cover required. The schedule is built around quality: 15-minute standard consults with 30 minutes allocated when cases need it, plus protected admin time each day so you’re not drowning in paperwork.
You’ll split your week between consultations, surgical work, and assisting colleagues, with flexibility to lean into what you enjoy most. The practice sits just 5 minutes off Sheffield Parkway and 10 minutes from the M1, making the commute straightforward. Behind the scenes, a dedicated Central Support Team in Leeds handles HR, finance and operations, so you can focus entirely on clinical work and patient care.
Beyond Handsworth, you’ll have access to the broader White Cross network across Leeds, Bradford, and Doncaster—where vets hold certificates in Internal Medicine, Dentistry, Emergency & Critical Care, and Imaging. This means learning opportunities and mentorship are genuinely woven into your week, not just offered once a year.
White Cross Vets Handsworth is a three-and-a-half-vet small animal practice led by a Clinical Director with a Small Animal Surgery certificate, supported by a senior vet and backed by a Practice Director who is an internationally accredited leadership coach. This means support isn’t just a concept—it’s embedded in daily culture. The team includes 3.5 RVNs, a student nurse, and a strong veterinary care assistant, all described as kind, capable and clinically sharp. Monthly wellbeing afternoons, team lunches, and peer recognition schemes (Lola’s scheme) reflect a workplace where standards are high but expectations realistic.
As part of IVC Evidensia, the practice benefits from a Central Support Team in Leeds handling operations, plus close working relationships with sister practices in Doncaster, Leeds, and Bradford. This network brings access to specialist knowledge without the pressure of sole practice responsibility. The practice is located at 155-159 Retford Road, Handsworth, Sheffield, and treats dogs, cats, and small pets with Rabbit Friendly status.
