About the Role

You’ll be joining White Cross Vets Wolstanton as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in a part-time position (25 hours per week), with flexibility considered for the right candidate. The role offers excellent variety—one day you might be running nurse clinics, the next managing in-patients or performing theatre work. This growing practice actively champions nurse utilisation and Schedule 3 skill development, so you’ll have genuine opportunities to advance your clinical practice within a supportive environment.

Based in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Wolstanton is a modern facility with excellent equipment including digital X-ray, ultrasound, endoscope access, an Imagyst machine for rapid cytology results, and SignalPet AI-assisted radiograph interpretation. The nursing team is strong and collaborative, working alongside four experienced vets (qualified 8-23 years) who specialise in surgery and dentistry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver nursing care across a varied caseload following a structured rota that rotates through nurse clinics, in-patient management, and theatre support
  • Develop and apply Schedule 3 skills with active encouragement from the clinical lead nurse and wider team
  • Contribute to the practice’s proactive approach to clinical improvement and quality of care
  • Support the practice’s ISFM Silver Award for cat care standards and IVC Evidensia Patient Safety Award commitments
  • Participate in regular audits and quality initiatives to maintain gold-standard first opinion care
  • Work alongside the clinical lead nurse and prep room co-ordinator on patient safety and clinical excellence

Requirements

  • Current RVN registration with the RCVS
  • Experience in small animal general practice (specific years not stated; DOE considered)
  • Strong clinical foundation with enthusiasm for continued professional development
  • Ability to work flexibly within a rota-based system
  • Commitment to patient care and team wellbeing
