About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Internal Medicine team at Willows, one of the world’s leading small animal referral centres. You’ll play a key role in the smooth running of the Medicine ward, working closely with the Medicine Lead Nurse and a wider team committed to delivering outstanding patient care. Your role involves providing consistently high standards of patient and client care, supporting and training team members, and helping coordinate the day-to-day activities of the Medicine department. This full-time position includes a manageable 1:6 weekend rota with shift times between 7am and 9pm.

You’ll be part of a collaborative, supportive environment where teamwork and communication drive everything—helping maintain a positive, efficient working space while upholding practice and group policies. Previous referral experience is desirable but not essential; comprehensive training and support will be provided to help you succeed.

You’ll be working within an outstanding multidisciplinary team of over 250 associates led by internationally-renowned specialists across orthopaedics, neurology, ophthalmology, internal medicine, clinical nutrition, oncology, soft tissue surgery, cardiology, dermatology, ECC, anaesthesia, diagnostic imaging, and physiotherapy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consistently high standards of patient and client care within the Medicine ward
  • Work closely with the Medicine Lead Nurse and wider team to ensure smooth, efficient ward operations
  • Support and train team members in nursing protocols and patient care standards
  • Coordinate and manage day-to-day activities of the Medicine department
  • Maintain positive, efficient working environment while ensuring practice and group policies are upheld
  • Contribute to the in-patient care programme, supported by 24-hour veterinary and nursing cover

Requirements

  • Current RCVS registration as a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN)
  • Previous referral experience desirable but not essential
  • Passion for internal medicine and collaborative teamwork
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional patient and client care
  • Ability to support and train other team members
