Night shift position with blocks of 7 nights on clinic. Flexible rota includes on-call duties (Monday–Thursday or Friday–Sunday) from 8 pm–1 am, paid as part of total working hours (average 29.3 hours per week). Rota open to adjustment to suit the candidate.

About the Role

Willows Veterinary Centre & Referral Service is seeking a dedicated Night RVN to join its exceptional nursing team at this leading small animal referral centre in Solihull. You’ll work within a stunning, purpose-built veterinary hospital serving a diverse range of complex cases across emergency and critical care, medicine, surgery, and specialist disciplines.

This night position offers a unique opportunity to develop your nursing skills in a truly supportive environment. Working predominantly on night shifts with a flexible rota that’s open to adjustment around your needs, you’ll collaborate with specialists in orthopaedics, neurology, ophthalmology, internal medicine, oncology, soft tissue surgery, cardiology, dermatology, ECC, anaesthesia, diagnostic imaging, and physiotherapy. No previous referral experience is required—Willows provides comprehensive training and mentoring to help you flourish.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialist ward nursing in both the Medicine and Surgical wards during night shifts
  • Provide intensive care unit patient support and monitoring
  • Work closely with Specialist and primary veterinary surgeons on complex cases
  • Support the emergency out-of-hours team with nursing care and emergency response
  • Contribute to the 24-hour nursing cover that keeps Willows’ patients safe

The Rota

An indicative 12-week cycle includes blocks of seven nights on clinic, scheduled rest weeks, and on-call duties (8 pm–1 am, paid as part of your total working hours). On-call shifts are flexible and the practice is open to adjusting the rota to suit you. The role averages 29.3 hours per week across this pattern.

Requirements

  • Current RCVS registration as a Registered Veterinary Nurse
  • Enthusiasm for delivering world-class patient and client care
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, complex-case environment
  • Collaborative mindset and commitment to professional development
  • Previous referral experience is desirable but not essential—full training provided
