Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN)

About the Role

You’ll be joining Wood Street Veterinary Hospital, a busy 24-hour RCVS-accredited Tier 3 small animal hospital serving the Barnet area since 1900. This is a permanent position working 40 hours per week with shifts running 7:00am to 9:00pm (no overnight shifts or bank holidays). You’ll work a 1:4 Saturday rota with time in lieu, and the practice actively supports flexible working arrangements to fit your lifestyle.

The hospital is a centre of excellence for small animal care, handling everything from emergency cases to complex orthopaedic surgeries. You’ll be part of a highly skilled, dedicated team working across the main 24-hour facility and four branch surgeries (Oakwood in Radlett, Holders Hill in Mill Hill, Cockfosters, and Rosemary Avenue in Enfield). The practice is ISFM-accredited as both cat-friendly and rabbit-friendly certified, which gives you a real sense of the care standards here.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care across a full range of small animal cases, including emergency and critical care
• Assist with surgical procedures in recently refurbished operating theatres, including laparoscopy and endoscopy cases
• Support diagnostic work using digital X-ray, dental X-ray, and in-house laboratory facilities
• Provide patient care in dedicated cat and dog wards, including isolation unit nursing
• Work as part of a 24/7 team ensuring continuous high-standard patient and client care
• Utilise your clinical skills to their fullest while contributing to a progressive, supportive team environment

Requirements

• Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) qualification
• Proactive, can-do attitude and dedication to animal care
• Previous experience in a hospital environment is ideal but not essential—the practice welcomes applications from those eager to develop and provides full training
• Clinical coach qualification is an advantage, or willingness to complete training in role is encouraged
